The International King's Daughters and Sons, Patient Circle, records consist mainly of the minutes of the Greenville circle. Minute books contain membership rolls, committee reports, constitutions, and bylaws. Annual reports presented at state conventions summarize the group's yearly activities and accomplishments. Of particular interest are the treasurer's records, which list items that the Patient Circle purchased for the poor and disabled in the Greenville area. Also contains volumes listing dues paid by members, membership rosters, committee assignments, and scrapbooks that contain newspaper clippings, minutes, photographs, and printed material. |

Biographical note | The International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons, an international, inter-racial, and inter-denominational religious organization, was founded in 1886. The Greenville, N.C., circle is the Patient Circle. Local circles operate camps, hospitals, homes for the aged, educational programs, and other types of charitable service committees and institutions. The circles also provide scholarships to students studying for the ministry, students in the health care field, and North American Indian students. |
